Books and Diabetes

I’ve decided that writing/publishing a book is like managing diabetes. Well, there are many parallels, at least. For starters, you make yourself extremely vulnerable when putting a book “out there,” just as you do when you visit a new provider or tell friends/family that you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes.

You have to figure out what your purpose is for writing the book. And in managing diabetes, it’s pretty important to know what motivates you (your purpose) to take care of yourself.

You need commitment to get a book published, and you need commitment to stay on track with all the various aspects of managing diabetes.

There’s a lot of self-talk involved!!

With both endeavors, there areĀ a lot of mistakes and a lot of learning (from them) too! And all this learning leads to growth – whether or not you were expecting it. New experiences, new ideas, new perspectives.

And as a result of all of the above, writing/publishing a book and managing diabetes lead to confidence – even though it doesn’t always feel like it.
